Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do tubeless wheels/tires come with sealant or tubes installed?

What is this hole under the bottle cage?

Some Canyon frames will have a hole under the bottle cage between the two bottle cage threads. This is used to help secure internally routed cables or hoses, so it should be left alone.

Are these small holes on my fork normal?

What is this plastic piece that fell off?

On Shimano Di2 rear derailleurs there is a plastic piece that clips in near the electronic cable that can help manage the Di2 cable slack.

I took my rear wheel off and the cassette slid off, is that normal?

Some DT Swiss freehubs are designed so that the freehub body and the hub are held in place during normal operation but can easily slide off when the wheel is removed. This is normal and can be reinstalled easily.

What are the bolts on the underside of the downtube?

DO NOT remove these bolts. Some frames will have a pair of bolt with a plastic piece under them underneath the downtube that is used to hold an internal mount for a Di2 battery. If the bolts are removed the parts can move around freely inside the frame and may only be able to be reinstalled by removing the bottom bracket to gain access inside the frame.

Why are my cables so short?

If your bike has externally routed cables and they seem way too short after assembly, you may have had the cables routed incorrectly while installing the handlebars. If this is the case, you may need to remove the bars and untwist your cables. Sometimes this happens if the fork is spun 360 degrees before the bars are attached.

Can I convert to fully internal cable routing?

Only bikes sold with internal cable routing support it. Do not buy an externally routed bike with plans to convert it.

The model/color/size I want is out of stock, will it be back and when?

Bike availability is hard to predict and only Canyon may know the answer. You can sign up for email alerts through the Canyon website, but a more reliable solution is to use a 3rd party tool to track website changes on the product page. Some bikes may sell out before stock notifications are sent, so a 3rd party tool can help you get alerted in time.
